An entry in a lj got me thinking. The person asked about writers editing published stories after a period of time. This is strictly from a reader's point of view since I do not write. Some writers were responding that they sometimes do edit their work but wondered if anyone would read the story again after knowing it was reworked. I will read a piece over again if I know its been redone. I have different reasons for this, sometimes it's a favorite that I come back too, other times it's to see how the writer has developed or changed his skills and techiques. I find that many writers in fanfic have honed their abilities over the years. It's an amazing process to watch.

I think writers are too hard on themselves, but, striving for better results can't be a bad thing. It's an admirable human trait. I work in a library environment and it saddens me to see so many people limiting their reading to what's on the best seller list, wanting to know who the hottest authors are. I know one person who will not entertain anything unless it is "trendy". What a loss for her. I find myself reading less and less material of this type. The writing on the internet available to people is incredible and I don't find it limited to just fanfiction based on popular TV shows. I would imagine writers using this venue do so for a love of writing. Being willing to share your work with others is very generous. There are no financial rewards, just feedback and discussion with people who share your interests, and I imagine not all feedback is good. Most writers seem to welcome any type as long as it is constructive and not just "flames".

My thanks to these writers, I do not always respond the way I should with praise, constructive critique or just a plain "hey thanks I enjoyed that". This will the "downfall" I will try to correct.

I just meant to say I do go back to certain stories after they have been reworked or edited. I usually enjoy them more, or at least just as much. I tend to get sidetracked easily. Sorry.

Just saw my initials and bid amount listed against Evening at Joe's at the HLWW auction site which indicated it was the final updating. Haven't received an official email yet, so I hope this doesn't mean I'm getting excited for nothing but I have to tell someone (jumping up and down). My family just roll their eyes or respond "you spent how much on what". Money goes to children in extreme need so there are no guilt feelings here.

Hoping to get PW's autograph on book in September at an event in Vancouver. Already has AP's. Please don't tell me they don't do autographs at these events?

It is minus 32 C (-20F) outside this morning. Tried to put the cats out as part of their early morning routine, no way. Its amazing the small space it takes for a cat to do a U-turn as you try to push him though a small opening. Needless to say them won.

It is incredible how beautiful it is. The snow just glitters in the sunshine. Will bundle up, take the camera and go for a walk when it warms up to minus 20.

Good thing there are stories like lastrega's "The Marrying Kind" to pass the time. The hot action helps to warm one up on a cold winter's day.
